GREAT JAZZ GIFTSI personally do not like jazz, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't buy a gift for a friend who loves it. I find with any gift-giving, you need to start LISTENING early in the year to people, what they like, what they want. Don't wait until December or even November to try to figure out gift ideas. I carry a pad of paper with me to write ideas down as they come up, not relying on memory. It's easy to forget what some one has said, especially if it's a subject you're not really into. Maybe bring up a musician or group to the giftee and see if he or she has an interest in them. Both of these artists have a little bit of "something special" that is hard to define, except by actually experiencing their music. If I like them, a jazz aficionado will probably enjoy them as well.If all else fails, I'll get my friend a gift card or just come out and ask. Not as much fun , but better than driving myself crazy.
